Big Idea

Name Your Feeling: Saying "I feel..." helps your brain calm down.

Story time

One morning at the cozy calm corner by the window, Hazel and Finn talked about “name your feeling.” Calm kids can name their feelings, breathe through them and ask for help. Hazel said, “Let's try it today!” Finn smiled and said, “Let's do it together.” By the end of the day, they both felt proud of the healthy choice they made.

Try it!

Try balloon breathing with a grown-up: sit tall, put a hand on your belly, breathe in slowly through your nose for 4 counts so your belly fills like a balloon, then breathe out for 4 counts. Do it 5 times and notice how you feel.
