Big Idea

Big Feelings Are Normal: Everyone feels happy, sad, mad, worried and excited sometimes.

Story time

One morning at the cozy calm corner by the window, Owen and Lily talked about “big feelings are normal.” Calm kids can name their feelings, breathe through them and ask for help. Owen said, “Let's try it today!” Lily smiled and said, “Let's do it together.” By the end of the day, they both felt proud of the healthy choice they made.

Try it!

Try balloon breathing with a grown-up: sit tall, put a hand on your belly, breathe in slowly through your nose for 4 counts so your belly fills like a balloon, then breathe out for 4 counts. Do it 5 times and notice how you feel.
