Find the Shade

Two kids in caps and long sleeves building a stone sundial under a shade tree in a sunny meadow

Big Idea

Find the Shade: Trees, porches, umbrellas, and the "shadow rule.".

Story time

One morning at the flower meadow, Hazel and Finn talked about “find the shade.” Fair skin burns fast, and sun-smart habits protect skin for life. Hazel said, “Let's try it today!” Finn smiled and said, “Let's do it together.” By the end of the day, they both felt proud of the healthy choice they made.

Try it!

Do a Shade Hunt: walk around your yard or a park with a grown-up and find three shady spots. Put your hat on first!
