Short Sprints

A girl and a boy in caps hiking a grassy hillside trail past grazing sheep

Big Idea

Short Sprints: Quick bursts, not long-distance running.

Story time

One morning at the hillside path, Owen and Lily talked about “short sprints.” Moving every day builds a strong heart, strong bones and a happy mood for a long, healthy life. Owen said, “Let's try it today!” Lily smiled and said, “Let's do it together.” By the end of the day, they both felt proud of the healthy choice they made.

Try it!

Do the 5-move mix: 5 jumping jacks, a 10-second plank, 5 slow stretches, a short sprint to a tree and back, and 5 calm breaths.

Quick check

  1. What is the big idea of this lesson in your own words?
  2. What is one thing you can do today to practice it?
  3. Who could you do this with at home?
