Fresh Water and Clean Homes

Big Idea

Fresh Water and Clean Homes: Every animal needs clean water every day and a clean, dry place to rest.

Story time

One morning at the farmyard at morning chore time, Lily and Ben talked about “fresh water and clean homes.” Caring for animals teaches kids gentleness, patience and responsibility. Lily said, “Let's try it today!” Ben smiled and said, “Let's do it together.” By the end of the day, they both felt proud of the healthy choice they made.

Try it!

With a grown-up, make a chore chart for one animal you know (a hen, a goat, a rabbit or a sheep). List its food, water and clean-home jobs, and check them off for a week. Wash your hands with soap after every chore.

Quick check

  1. What is the big idea of this lesson in your own words?
  2. What is one thing you can do today to practice it?
  3. Who could you do this with at home?
