Socializing Ideas

Children playing tag in a sunny meadow while parents sit under a shade tree

Big Idea

Children learn friendship by being with other people. JJRave does not host meetups. Parents arrange these. Use the Social Skills lessons before you go.

Ideas you can arrange

  • A small co-op: two or three families, one subject, then time at a park. Read Making Friends and Sharing and Taking Turns first.
  • Library story time, or one class through a park or recreation program.
  • A weekly walk with one other family. Pair it with Fresh Air and Nature Walks.
  • A neighbor errand: flowers, extra garden food, or a thank-you note. Pair it with Kindness and Helping Others.
  • For ages 4–6, keep the group small and the visit short. For ages 10–13, a class or a project with another family can be the social block.

Try it!

Parents: put one social time on this month’s calendar. Tell the children which Social Skills lesson you will read the day before.

Quick check

  1. Who is arranging the meetup?
  2. Which Social Skills lesson will you read first?
  3. How long will the visit last for your child’s age?
