Big Idea

My Reading Log: Write down every book you finish and how it made you feel.

Story time

One morning at the reading quilt under the shade tree, Lily and Ben talked about “my reading log.” Readers grow strong minds, big imaginations and a lifelong love of learning. Lily said, “Let's try it today!” Ben smiled and said, “Let's do it together.” By the end of the day, they both felt proud of the healthy choice they made.

Try it!

Read for 20 minutes today with a grown-up or by yourself. Then write the book's name in your reading log and draw your favorite part.

Quick check

  1. What is the big idea of this lesson in your own words?
  2. What is one thing you can do today to practice it?
  3. Who could you do this with at home?
