Talk It Out

Big Idea
Talk It Out: Tell a grown-up you trust how you feel and ask for help.
Story time
One morning at the cozy calm corner by the window, Ben and Hazel talked about “talk it out.” Calm kids can name their feelings, breathe through them and ask for help. Ben said, “Let's try it today!” Hazel smiled and said, “Let's do it together.” By the end of the day, they both felt proud of the healthy choice they made.
Try it!
Try balloon breathing with a grown-up: sit tall, put a hand on your belly, breathe in slowly through your nose for 4 counts so your belly fills like a balloon, then breathe out for 4 counts. Do it 5 times and notice how you feel.
